Robel Solomon

A little bit about me...

My name is Robel Solomon, and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, where I am working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. My education has given me the chance to study many important subjects, like algorithms, data structures, and data analytics. These classes have helped me learn both the theory and practical skills needed in computer science. As I continue throughout this journey, I hope to keep an inquisitive mind coupled with deep curiosity for learning about the vast field in hopes of mastering the skills I neeed to pursue whatever the future may hold.

Work

4k labs, Intern: I conducted thorough testing of the lab's Arduino programming instructional PDF manual, ensuring the suitability of its projects for beginners and contributing to the overall quality assurance of the educational materials.

Augustana College, ITS Student Worker: I fulfilled the role of a technical support specialist, answering phones, assisting customers with technical issues, and completing work orders, which included conducting maintenance checks on campus technology and organizing inventory.

Orange digital center, Teacher's assistant: As a Teacher's Assistant for an online international training program in beginner Python programming, I managed and mentored a cohort of over 100 students, guiding them in project creation and assignment completion.

Skills

I have substantial experience in Java and Python, honed through various engaging and challenging projects. Among these, I've developed a program that visually represents whether gerrymandering has occurred based on a set of votes, and a simple game featuring tanks shooting aliens. In Java, I have completed projects including a shape decomposer and a star display chart that showcases constellations and supernovas. These projects were part of my coursework at Augustana College, where I gained deep insights into object-oriented programming and data structures.
